As you may know, OTV was meant to be a lesson in biology. But it also turned out to teach a lesson about life.
My youngest daughter also wrote about our exploits in natural history on her blog. Apparently she received some pretty sharp criticism for it and was feeling rather embattled.
So we talked about that. Criticism is a part of life… So is being misunderstood. From what I can tell, it’s an aspect of life that never stops being painful. But we deal with it as best we can and move on.
I assured her we hadn’t done anything wrong. A bit warped maybe, but not wrong.
She smiled a mischievous smile. I saw the strength behind it and thought, “My little girl (who is no longer very little, of course) is growing up.” And I knew we were going to be OK.
Actually I don't think that what you guys did was warped at all. It was a very good idea and you guys did a good job. The proof is in the pudding so to speak. Not many other ways to attract them - I don't think that there's a big market for Turkey Vulture decoys or mating whistles.

Poor Mary - I hate being told off on my blog about something that to me is 'normal'.
Now did the person who criticise really understand that your family did not kill the animal, and just picked up some 'garbage' and take it home? 'Fraid I have to say 'Dumbo!
Next post - TV's on Blog. I am sure!!
