At the wedding on Saturday, I was standing with the groom waiting for the bride to appear. Observing tradition, he had not seen her all day.
The wedding itself occurred under a tent which was set up next to the farm house. The bride was coming out the side door of the house, and then processing down the aisle of the tent.
When the groom saw her, he uttered a spontaneous “wow!!!” He spoke it softly and to himself, not for show or for a moment of comic relief, but as a genuine expression of the heart.
Suddenly I missed my own wife very much, and—though I was looking forward to the wedding and visiting afterwards—I couldn’t wait to get home.
