Hard Times Come to Church
At St. Matthew's, we've been very fortunate that every year for the last 8 years our income has exceeded our budget. This year, however, that does not look like it will be the case.
Basically, our budget requires $35,000 a month in income in order to meet our expenses. Only 3 months out of 10 have we met that figure.
Despite the economy, I'm hopeful the next couple months will help us to end the year better than it seems like we will now (because now it looks like a return to the "bad ol' days" when I first started at St. Matt's. I had to put the church's utility bill on my credit card so they wouldn't turn the power off. It was three months overdue...)
Yes, I feel a temptation to be anxious that I haven't felt in a long, long time. But maybe that's not entirely bad. I'm also remembering how important it is to walk by faith and trust God to provide.
Wow, how do you burn through that much in a month? Hope it works out anyway...
