I'm the oldest of five siblings. When we all first left home for various parts of the country, there was nothing to get us together except our desire to see one another again. That meant family reunions, which have been a lot of fun over the years.
For the first time this weekend, we had another reason to get together--a family wedding. The first of our children was married, and we gathered to celebrate. It has been a time of great joy and togetherness. With another 14 children to go, the youngest of whom is currently 5 years old, this phase will hopefully last a long time.
Because in the next phase, we are likely to gather for a very different reason, and it will not be joyous.
