We started our 9:15 service today with Crazy Train, and man did the band ever do a great job of it. Of course, you might well wonder what Ozzy has to do with Jesus...
The point was that in today's Gospel from Mark 3, people were saying that Jesus "had gone out of his mind". From their perspective, given their values and expectations of life, Jesus appeared to be a crazy man. But I expect the converse is also true; from Jesus' perspective, given his values and expectations of life, those same people must've at least in some ways appeared "crazy" to him.
And so it raises the question of who's in their right mind and who isn't, and what being in our right mind looks like in the first place. Is it possible that at least sometimes when we mindlessly follow in the path our culture and society leads us, we find ourselves "going off the rails on a crazy train"?
Excellent post. I learned a lot reading it. Thanks.
