Linda and I were treated to quite the show early this morning. Four deer--two bucks, a doe, and what looked like a yearling--were racing around the field behind our house. They were prancing and leaping and generally frolicking about. At points it looked like a game of tag, with one deer chasing another, and that deer taking off after a new deer, and then everybody running like crazy all around.
It all went on long enough that I had a chance to get my camera. As usual, the low light conditions got the best of my camera. But in the photo below you can still see the buck "kicking up his heels". I swear he has a smile on his face. In another photo, which unfortunatley ended up just being a blur, one of the bucks is chasing the other. They are running flat out, so close to each other that they look like one animal. Though the picture didn't capture it, there was turf flying, hooves pounding, and explosive snorting.
If they were having even half as much fun as we had watching them, then believe me, they were having an absolute blast.
