We have a lovely Christmas tree in our parish hall. Part of what makes it such a lovely tree is that many of the ornaments that adorn it are made by families in the church. This is the ornament Linda made for us. I am OK with the name. Seeing how fat the cat is that is presumably meant to be Chuck--now that hurts!
Others have also apparently noticed.
One of our homeless folks dropped by the church yesterday, as much for a warm place to rest his feet and enjoy some conversation as for financial assistance, I think. We set him up with a couple nights in a hotel and a gift card for food. Then we talked for a while, after which I took him to the local bus station near the hospital where I needed to make a visit. He's going on 60 years old, so I carried his bag to the stop when we got out of the car.
As I turned to go he said charitably, "You've put on a few pounds, haven't you?" Dang. I've been telling myself it's all muscle, but it looks like I can no longer live under that illusion!
